WHAT'S NEW & UPCOMING IN NEW YORK CITY

MAJOR INVESTMENTS

Transportation

    • Building on the recently completed Terminal 8 (T8) Expansion project, John F. Kennedy Airport announced a $125 million commercial redevelopment initiative, including 300+ new concessions and 60+ new retail offerings, emphasizing local, minority and women-owned businesses. JFK also saw the groundbreaking of the new, upcoming $4.2 million redevelopment of Terminal 6, which will occupy the site of the former Terminal 6 and Terminal 7. Construction is also currently underway at Terminal 1, which will become a state-of-the-art terminal with 23 gates and 300,000 square feet of dining, retail, lounges and recreation, expected to open in 2026.
    • In addition to the new Terminal A offering 33 gates serving Air Canada, American Airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines customers and directly connected to a multilevel parking facility, EWR is also working toward a new 2.5-mile elevated guideway train system to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and ease traffic congestion. Most recently, Terminal A was given a prestigious five-star rating by Skytrax, the preeminent aviation industry ratings firm, joining LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B as the only two airport terminals in North America awarded the highest rating by Skytrax. 
    • The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently unveiled an updated design to replace the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The new Midtown Bus Terminal will replace the 73-year-old terminal with a world-class facility. The $10 billion facility will be designed to meet projected 20402050 commuter growth and include a 2.1 million square foot main terminal, new ramps leading directly into and out of the Lincoln Tunnel, a central main entrance, more street-level retail, public open space, and a multi-story indoor atrium. Construction is expected to be completed by 2032.

Developments
 

    • Currently under construction, the expansion of the Clinton Cove Park area is now in design and will feature a playground with water spray features, sunset plaza seating, an activity field and an all-ages slide.
    • Bronx Point is a 530,000-square-foot mixed-use development in the South Bronx, opening in phases with housing, retail, public space, a waterfront promenade and cultural programming including the Hip Hop Museum in 2025.  
    • TSX Broadway, a new development including a hotel—Tempo by Hilton Times Square—The Palace Theatre, dining, retail and entertainment stages is underway and opening in phases, with the recent unveiling of its 18,000-square-foot podium LED Screen where visitors and locals alike can upload 15-second videos casting over Times Square.
    • As part of a private-public partnership, NYCFC will fully finance and build New York's first professional soccer stadium. The Willets Point project will have 25,000 seats, a new public school, 40,000 square feet of public open space and will bring 2,500 affordable homes to the community. The project will add an estimated 16,000 jobs and predicted $6 billion to the City's economy. 

HOTELS

    • Firmdale Hotels' third NYC property, the Warren Street Hotel, opened with 69 individually designed rooms, suites and residences—some with private terrace gardens and Lower Manhattan and Hudson River views—as well as the Warren Street Bar & Restaurant, offering an all-day menu.
    • Less than a mile away from Barclays Center, this new Brooklyn hotel offers a 24-hour market, free hot breakfast, and walking distance to over dozens of restaurants with easy access to public transportation.
    • Contemporary style meets ultimate comfort at this new modern hotel in the heart of Times Square, where guests can enjoy rooms designed for both work and relaxation, complimentary hot breakfast buffets, a state-of-the-art gym, and a cocktail at Bar 46.
    • Corinthia, the renowned luxury hotel brand, will open its first NYC location on the Upper East Side where the historic Surrey Hotel once stood. The hotel, set to open in summer 2024, aims to restore the property's former glamour and sophistication. 
    • Even Hotel Long Island City will offer comfortable rooms with welcoming decor and in-room fitness zones for private workouts, allowing guests to stay active during their visit. Conveniently located near attractions like MoMA PS1, the hotel is also within a 15-minute drive to LaGuardia Airport.
    • Following a complete renovation and restoration, the famed hotel is projected to reopen later this year featuring its restored historic public and event spaces along with luxury condominiums and 375 large guest rooms and suites, helmed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and renowned interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The hotel will also bring back a restored Peacock Alley and the famous ballroom.

 

ARTS & CULTURE

Expansions & Openings

    • The immersive museum, which also doubles as an event space, is an accessible, family-friendly space comprising 15 rooms with experiences including projected art, a 4D sound studio, LED installations, flower rooms and its own signature scent.
    • The Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) launched a new chapter in DUMBO, Brooklyn with its new location at the Empire Stores building. The Museum's first exhibition, Flavor: The World to Your Brain, is an exploration of the sensory experience of flavors in food, offering visitors insight into the true definitions of natural and artificial flavorings.
    • The iconic theater has expanded for the first time in its 90-year history with the opening of the revitalized Victoria Theater, which introduced two new stages, creating an arts campus in Harlem.
    • Formerly known as the Grey Art Gallery, New York University's fine arts museum recently moved to 18 Cooper Square and was renamed Grey Art Museum. 
    • Founded in 1928, Brooklyn Paramount is ready for the spotlight once again as a concert hall in the heart of Brooklyn. The new venue is a design marvel, restoring many of the original elements. Over 100 shows have already been booked since the venue opened in March, with a wide range of acts performing including Sting, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, Sean Paul, Norah Jones and more.
    • The center's newly renovated 2,000-seat Colden Auditorium, Queens' largest indoor venue, opened its doors with the Viva El Cinco De Mayo event as the kickoff of the grand reopening.
    • Inaugurated in 1979 to establish and promote Korean culture in NYC, the Korean Cultural Center New York recently debuted its new location at 122 East 32nd Street, providing a newly expanded platform to continue operations as a hub for Korean culture.
    • The first visitor center within the national park system dedicated to LGBTQ+ history will open in 2024, honoring and exploring the history of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising at a storefront next door to the historic Stonewall. 
    • The Frick Collection will return to its original home at The Frick Mansion in late 2024 in a repurposed space including 27,000 square feet of new construction. Additionally, the second floor of the original Frick residence will become accessible to the public for the first time.
    • The museum, which will be housed in National Urban League's new Harlem headquarters, the Urban League Empowerment Center, will be the first dedicated to the American Civil Rights Movement and one of the only museums in the nation to delve into to the movement in the North.
    • Located just south of Yankee Stadium, this space will pay homage to the South Bronx's rich culture and history as the birthplace of hip-hop.
    • The Public Theater, in partnership with the Central Park Conservancy, NYC Parks and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, is embarking on a much-needed revitalization of the 61-year-old theater, The major investment will dramatically improve the home of Free Shakespeare in the Park, addressing critical infrastructure, accessibility and theatrical needs.
    • The New Museum broke ground on a 60,000 square foot expansion, the first since opening its doors in 2007. The seven-story space will double the museum's exhibition spaces and feature a new public plaza that will be home to art installations, performances and gatherings.
    • The New-York Historical Society will incorporate a museum dedicated to LGBTQ+ history, slated to open in 2026 as the first in the nation showcasing global, national and local LGBTQ+ history and culture. 
    • The State of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation recently announced a $100 million revitalization of Ellis Island Museum, including technological advancements, reimagined exhibitions and new theaters. In addition to reimagining the historic museum, the revitalization will expand the Records Discovery Center, increasing from 65 million to 154 million names in its database.
    • The National Black Theater has embarked on a major capital redevelopment project that will transform the current property into a modern destination for Black culture through theater. The new multidisciplinary cultural arts facility will sit in an arts district occupying 25,000 square feet of space across the ground floor, basement, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of a 21-story residential, commercial and cultural mixed-use development.

Cultural Exhibitions, Festivals & Performances   

    • The New York City Tourism + Conventions signature program bundling special offerings and events at cultural organizations across the five boroughs will return in October.
    • Part of The Morgan Library and Museum's 2024 Centennial Campaign, Seen Together: Acquisitions in Photographyshowcases more than forty previously unexhibited works acquired by the Morgan's Department of Photography.
    • The second installment of a two-part series, Bronx Calling: The Sixth AIM Biennial features the artwork of 53 emerging artists who completed The Bronx Museum's annual Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) Fellowship program between 2020 The exhibit explores urgent issues through the lens of lived experience, cultural identity and visual language while critiquing systems of power in response to the transformative events of the past four years.
    • Marking the 400th anniversary of the Dutch establishment of a colony that laid the foundation for New York City, this unique installation centers around the Castello Plan, a rare map portraying New Amsterdam circa 1660. The exhibit provides insight into everyday life in the colony, its diverse population, Dutch ideas of tolerance, and the troubling legacies of slavery and Native American dispossession.
    • The first exhibition at the newly reopened Grey Art Museum is Americans in Paris: Artists Working in Postwar France, 1946–1962. This is the first major exhibition exploring the historical impact of the expatriate art scene in post-World War II Paris, presenting over 130 works by approximately 70 artists.
    • In honor of the 100th anniversary of The Museum of the City of New York, the museum created a full-floor exhibition, This Is New York, to explore the various stories, songs, art, literature and more, created over the past century throughout NYC.
  • The Plural of He at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art | Soho, Manhattan | Through July 21, 2024
    • The Plural of He explores the life of Colin Robinson, the Trinidadian American poet, critic and social justice hero, through commissioned works, highlighting the artist's pursuit of connection and justice
    • This groundbreaking exhibition features 160 works of painting, sculpture, photography, film and ephemera exploring the comprehensive and far-reaching ways Black artists showcased everyday modern life in new Black cities throughout the 1920s–40s in Harlem and nationwide.
    • The museum's complete set of these celebrated prints is among the world's finest. Originally published in 1856–58, the series captures the evolving socioeconomic and environmental landscape of the city that would become Tokyo, accompanied by a set of paintings by contemporary artist Takashi Murakami.
    • The 81st Whitney Biennial, Even Better Than the Real Thing, showcases the work of 71 visionary artists and collectives, continuing the tradition of past participants by interpreting the current cultural landscape, telling stories, sparking discussion and commenting on diverse issues across various media and disciplines.
    • Eyes of the Storm showcases the frenzy of Beatlemania capturing the hearts of millions on photographs taken on founding member Paul McCartney's Pentax camera. More than 250 of McCartney's photos, recently rediscovered in his archives, reveal his singular vantage point at the center of this whirlwind, buzzing with the electricity of 1960s NYC.
    • Explore the inspiring history of the space race at the Intrepid Museum's groundbreaking exhibition, Apollo: When We Went to the Moon, the largest temporary exhibit ever hosted at the museum. The exhibition delves into humanity's journey beyond Earth, showcasing the collaborative efforts and remarkable individuals that made it possible, providing an unparalleled educational experience through engaging displays, interactives and artifacts.
    • Focusing on six Latin American countries—Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela—Crafting Modernity: Design in Latin America, 1940—1980 is the first exhibition by a major American museum to examine modern design in this region on a comprehensive scale. The exhibit features more than 100 objects, providing a platform for understanding political, social and cultural transformations in the region.
  • Lost New York at New-York Historical Society Museum & Library | Central Park | Through September 29, 2024
    • Explore a bygone era of NYC at the New-York Historical Society. From the original Penn Station to the Chinese Theater, visitors can listen to the voices of those that were at many of the lost sites sharing their memories of an old New York in vivid detail.
    • The groundbreaking exhibition Taking Care commemorates the historic development of a tuberculosis treatment facility on Staten Island in 1951, emphasizing the pivotal role of "The Black Angels" nurses who broke racial barriers and risked their lives to administer the clinical trials. The exhibit features historic objects and archival images, as well as an immersive art film, Back and Song.
    • One of the most prominent features of art from the late 18th century onward, particularly after World War II, is the tendency for artists to evolve traditional methods and push boundaries. This exhibition examines the ways contemporary artists enacted new ideas formed by the social and historical contexts of their time.
    • Celebrate hip-hop's cultural influence through the iconic and stunning jewelry worn by some of the genre's biggest stars. The exhibition will showcase pieces from Slick Rick's gem-encrusted crown; the diamond-studded Roc-A-Fella medallion; Nicki Minaj's 'Barbie' diamond pendant; and jewelry from A$AP Rocky, Tyler, the Creator, Erykah Badu and more.
    • The Costume Institute's spring 2024 exhibition will feature approximately 250 garments and accessories spanning four centuries that are connected visually through nature and serve as a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion. To celebrate, on Monday, May 6, Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Anna Wintour will co-chair The Costume Institute Benefit (also known as The Met Gala®) to raise funds for exhibition and more.
    • Reynaldo Rivera's debut solo exhibition presents a collection of recent, iconic, and previously unseen photographs spanning from the 1980s to today, challenging stereotypes by portraying subjects as protagonists in their own stories and capturing an intercultural bohemia through portraits influenced by various cultural and cinematic influences.
    • Since 2011, NYCxDESIGN festival celebrates creativity and inspiration from around the world. The event is curated by some of the most renowned names in the design world, attracting thousands of visitors to NYC. This year's programming includes exhibitions, installations, talks, trade shows and more.
    • Step into an enchanting exhibition featuring surreal art that immerses visitors in the whimsical world of Alice's adventures in wonderland. Featuring works from artists including Yoko Ono, Oscar de la Renta, Alyson Shotz, Abelardo Morrell and more, Wonderland: Curious Nature will delight visitors with larger-than-life art installations and exciting programs including afternoon tea parties and scavenger hunts around the grounds led by the Cheshire Cat himself.
    • Lyle Ashton Harris: Our first and last love showcases photographs and installations from various series, including the recently completed Shadow Works, exploring the Bronx-born artist's 35-year journey of critical self-examination, identity, and engagement with social and political dialogues through themes of intimacy, tenderness, and legacy.
    • The Public Theater will host free programming across all five boroughs beginning on May 28 when the company's acclaimed Mobile Unit will return with an encore tour of a bilingual Spanish and English production of “The Comedy of Errors” through June 30. Throughout the months of June, July and August, The Public, in partnership with NYC Parks, will also offer screenings of “Much Ado About Nothing” across the boroughs.
  • Edges of Ailey at Whitney Museum of American Art | Meatpacking District, Manhattan | September 25, 2024February 9, 2025
    • Edges of Ailey will be the first large-scale museum exhibition dedicated to the life, work and legacy of visionary artist Alvin Ailey. This multifaceted presentation will encompass a multimedia exhibition, daily performance program and scholarly catalogue.

ANNUAL CELEBRATIONS, BIG EVENTS & ANNIVERSARIES:

    • Cyclists from almost 100 nations across the world will head to NYC to race across the George Washington Bridge in a once-in-a-lifetime experience
    • NYC will host eight matches of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the new modular stadium, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the first of its kind for cricket. The stadium will also the high-profile tournament between India and Pakistan on June 9.
    • The international sailing competition returns to the City this summer as part of its 12-race global circuit across four continents. 
    • Copa America has announced New York/New Jersey as one of the host cities for the CONMEBOL, hosting three games at MetLife Stadium on June 25, June 27, and the semifinals on July 9.
    • The annual NYC Pride March stands as one of the world's largest, drawing tens of thousands of participants and millions of spectators along the sidewalks annually. This year's official theme is “Reflect. Empower. Unite,” celebrating the 40th anniversary for Heritage of Pride and 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
    • Since opening in 1999, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden's Chinese Scholar's Garden has continued to delight guests from all over the globe. As one of two authentic classical Chinese gardens built in the US, Snug Harbor continues to honor the serenity and symbolism of traditional Chinese culture.
    • WNYC will celebrate its centennial with citywide public programming and events beginning in July. Details will be announced soon.
    • What began as a one-day, one-time-only event in the summer of 1974 to bring the greater Harlem community together has flourished into an annual, weeklong festival of events promoting the rich history of Harlem.
  • US Open | Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens | August 26–September 8, 2024
    • The US Open will return to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center this summer. Ahead of the main event, US Open Fan Week will take place with events and activations in celebration.
    • The Brooklyn Museum will celebrate its 200th anniversary with several special exhibitions and events beginning on October 5 with a Birthday Bash celebration including programming demonstrating the best of the borough, marking two centuries of doing things “the Brooklyn way.”
    • In honor of its 100th anniversary, The Morgan Library & Museum will present a major exhibition honoring the life and career of its inaugural director, Belle da Costa Greene (1879–1950). 
    • The world's largest marathon will return to NYC this fall.
    • FIFA has announced it will launch an expanded version of the Club World Cup featuring 32 teams with tournaments taking place every four years. New York City/New Jersey will be one of the host cities in the US to host the first edition of the tournament.
  • Ryder Cup | NYC Metropolitan Area | September 22–28, 2025
    • The Ryder Cup is a prestigious biannual golf competition pitting teams from Europe and the US against each other in a fiercely contested match play format.
    • New York City Tourism + Conventions just announced a brand-new, immersive tourism campaign, Founded By NYC, which will celebrate 250 years and beyond of enduring contributions to the US by New Yorkers. The campaign will have a focus on inclusivity, acknowledgment and education, sharing the important perspectives of marginalized audiences including those of the Indigenous community, women, LGBTQ+ community and people of color.
    • In 2026, the US will celebrate 250 years since its founding. NYC will celebrate in a big way as the nation's first capital, the birthplace of American government and the place where the Bill of Rights was written—as well as placing a focus on the untold stories of Black and Indigenous communities and their impact on NYC's history.
    • FIFA has announced New York/New Jersey as the host city for the 2026 World Cup Final. In addition to the final game on July 19, New York/New Jersey will host seven games on June 13, June 16, June 22, June 25, June 27, June 30 and July 5.
    • The US Open Golf Championship is one of golf's four major championships, known for its challenging courses and rigorous competition among the world's top players.
  • Sail4th 250 | New York City & New Jersey | July 3–8, 2026
    • NYC and New Jersey will host the capstone events to kick off the 250th anniversary of America's Independence. From July 3 through July 8, millions across the nation will witness the largest-ever international flotilla of ships and vessels sailing into the ports of New York and New Jersey. The six-day celebration will also host an array of festivities including firework displays, food festivals, a special Fleet Week, and more.   
    • NYC, along with the state of New Jersey, will be the host city for The Army-Navy Football Game presented by USAA in 2026. The game will be hosted at the Meadowlands Complex as part of the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and will be the 19th time the game has been played in New York or New Jersey.    

ATTRACTIONS, TOURS & RECREATION

    • This new five-hour bus tour showcases iconic sights throughout Manhattan—Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Battery Park and more—via a luxury vehicle with a tour guide providing details of the City's rich history. Throughout the trip, stops for short walking tours are included at sites like the High Line, as well as a boat cruise on the Staten Island Ferry for views of the New York Harbor and Statue of Liberty.
    • Visitors can now recreate the famous 1932 photograph “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper,” depicting ironworkers perched on a steel beam while 30 Rockefeller Plaza was under construction. The Beam experience has opened on the 69th floor of Top of the Rock offering an interactive photo experience, while soaring more than 800 feet in the sky. Opening this summer is a new mezzanine level with interactive experiences, and later this year, the Skylift on the 70th floor, which will raise visitors 30 feet above the uppermost rooftop upon a circular glass platform.
    • This walking tour explores the significance of the West Farms neighborhood and the Happy Land Social Club Fire to both NYC and the Garifuna community. Dedicated to the 87 men and women who lost their lives in the fire in 1990, the Happy Land Memorial is a landmark that serves as the gateway to the largest Garifuna village in the world and evidence of a long history and lasting Garifuna presence in the South Bronx.
    • These interactive, private dining experiences feature a four-course meal with beverage pairings, hands-on cocktails and foodie activities in settings designed for easy, authentic connection, for groups of 5100+ at participating restaurants in Manhattan.
    • This unique walking tour offering bagel enthusiasts an opportunity to sample a variety of elite bagels, cream cheeses and sandwiches, all while delving into the history of the City's favorite carb of choice, is now available in the Spanish language.
    • Spend a summer night on the Hudson River aboard Circle Line's DJ-led two-hour evening cruise to catch the sunset and sail toward iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and the Financial District; under the breathtaking Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges; and catch a close-up view of the Statue of Liberty.
    • From Little Caribbean NYC comes a new walking food tour in collaboration with National Geographic, where local businesses and tourists unite during the two-hour exploration of the neighborhood, home to the largest population with Caribbean ancestry outside of the West Indies.
    • One Times Square is being modernized into a visitor center for NYC, featuring a viewing deck that provides an elevated perspective of Times Square and a closer look at the New Year's Eve Ball, a museum experience that tells the storied history of the area and immersive brand activations across 12 floors.

    • The New York City Tourism + Conventions signature program runs biannually, offering deals on lunches and dinners. The next iteration will take place in July/August 2024. 
  • Red Sorghum | Long Island City, Queens | January 2024
    • With interiors inspired by 1930s Chinese cinema, this new restaurant is serving traditional Sichuan and Hunan fare. Diners can expect a selection of Sichuan wontons, Xiang Xi fried rice, Chongqing braised beef, as well as Traditional Chinese American fare including kung pao chicken and lo mein.
  • Corima | Chinatown, Manhattan | January 2024
    • The highly anticipated opening of Corima offers a new option of “progressive Mexican” cuisine, pioneered by the husband/wife duo Chef Fidel Caballero and Sofia Ostos. The name Corima, derived from the Tarahumara language of the Indigenous people in Chihuahua, translates to "circle of sharing." Prior to its permanent location, the restaurant made waves through citywide pop-ups.
    • The renowned comedy club Second City, known for launching comedy careers, opened its first NYC location in Williamsburg. The venue includes two cabaret-style theaters, Training Center classrooms and a full-service restaurant and bar.
    • Le Malt expanded to Staten Island with the debut of Le Malt Imperiale, a luxury membership club which redefines classic drinks and fine dining. The club expertly combines tradition with modern and elevated offerings to create a stand-out experience across its six dining spaces.
  • Yao | Lower Manhattan | February 2024
    • A new 168-seat Cantonese restaurant features three private dining spaces including a main dining area with orange interiors and chandeliers where guests are served classic Cantonese fare such as chilled jellyfish and a selection of abalone dishes.
    • The beloved donut shop opened the doors to its Nolita shop, rotating 44 flavors of airy and colorful donuts, including Strawberry Lemonade and Blackberry Mint Mojito.
    • This new cafe serves polenta baked bread, breakfast pastries from Balthazar, pizza al taglio, and smoked trout salads. The cafe recently began dinner service Thursdays through Sundays.
    • The duo behind Next Stop Vegan has opened a new vegan fast casual spot in Washington Heights, serving vegan interpretations of Dominican and Latin American cuisine including plantain and yuca empanadas; platano power sandwich; potato balls, and more.
    • JACK Studios unveiled its state-of-the-art soundstage, a 20,000 square-foot multi-use production facility in Williamsburg. The space features a drive-in studio, VIP entrances, green rooms, outdoor lounge, kitchen, bar/cafe, top-tier equipment, conference room, onsite parking, post-production suites and more, for all event needs.
  • Theodora | Fort Greene, Brooklyn | February 2024
    • Theodora made its highly anticipated debut following the success of its sister restaurant, Miss Ada. From Chef and Owner Tomer Blechman, Theodora offers bold Mediterranean-style fare, where almost every dish on the 20-item menu involves seafood prepared in a wood-fired oven.
    • In addition to a new high-end clothing store, 57 Great Jones Street, the former studio of artists Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, also houses actor Angelina Jolie's cafe. The cafe offers Turkish coffee and small bites, and has partnered with Eat Offbeat, an organization dedicated to hiring refugees into food businesses.
  • Mavi Cafe | St. George, Staten Island | March 2024
    • The family-owned restaurant serves Turkish and Southeast European cuisine including falafel; kofte sandwich; cigar borek filled with feta, and honey-soaked baklava.
  • Beut | Koreatown, Manhattan | April 2024
    • Inspired by Korean Royal Court cuisine from the Joseon Dynasty, Sarah Kang's new restaurant offers an eight-course tasting menu with natural wine pairings.
  • Sawa | Park Slope, Brooklyn | April 2024
    • The Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope welcomed a Lebanese restaurant in April, serving fare including tabbouleh, lamb chops with charred scallions and chargrilled whole dorade.
  • Lola's | Flatiron District, Manhattan | April 2024
    • Honoring her lola (grandmother in Filipino), chef Suzanne Cupps' new restaurant draws inspiration from her Asian American heritage, South Carolina upbringing and life in professional kitchens. Guests can expect seasonal dishes such as country rib skewers, stir-fried egg noodles and Southern stuffed clams.
  • Beefbar | Tribeca, Manhattan | April 2024
    • Located at the original Nobu, Beefbar is a beloved European-based steakhouse opening its first outpost in NYC since it launched in 2005 in Monte Carlo. In addition to a menu featuring the finest steaks from around the world, guests can also enjoy a Black Angus kathi roll, Korean-style skirt steak, and tuna rib-eye with shiso chimichurri.
  • HEI Tiki | Astoria, Queens | April 2024
    • This new Queens sushi restaurant and cocktail bar pulls references from Tiki culture offering a vibrant experience for guests.
  • Animal | Williamsburg, Brooklyn | April 2024
    • A new queer bar opened at 307 Meeker Avenue, at Frost Street, with live DJs and equally live dance floors along with a menu of beers and craft cocktails including negronis, old fashioned, margaritas and more.
    • Venue 42 by Convene, located in the heart of NYC, occupies 30,000 square feet at 5 Times Square. The new space comprises nine meeting rooms, with each room supporting various event types from conferences and company town halls to corporate social events and more.
  • Esse Taco | Williamsburg, Brooklyn | May 2024
    • Famed chef Enrique Olvera opened his first taqueria in NYC, offering four tacos— rib-eye, al pastor, grilled chicken and oyster mushroom—as well as a corn husk ice cream sundae.

  • The Vietnamese American and French pastry pop-up will open its first bakery café in NYC at 42 Market Street.

 

    • Convene will debut a newly expanded venue at 101 Park Avenue including a new mezzanine level with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a large conference hall with full theatrical lighting that can accommodate up to 223 guests and an open gallery for networking and food breaks.
    • This spring, international sensation Din Tai Fung is expected to open its very first East Coast location at 1633 Broadway. The Michelin-starred restaurant is known for its soup dumplings, xiao long bao, spicy wontons, cucumber salad and noodles.
    • Cocina Consuelo was born during the pandemic, from Eleven Madison Park alum Karina Garcia and her husband Lalo Rodriguez, who worked at Cosme. The successful recurring dinner series eventually led to pop-ups and a stand at Smorgasburg, and the duo is now preparing to open their first spot in Harlem, a Mexican café by day and restaurant by night.
  • Salt & Straw | West Village & Upper West Side | Summer 2024
    • The beloved ice cream shop with a cult following from Portland, Oregon, will open its first two locations in NYC at 540 Hudson Street at 360 Amsterdam Avenue.
    • Later this year, Convene's newest premium meeting, event and flexible office space will offer an additional 22,500+ square feet in the heart of Manhattan. The expansion at 360 Madison Avenue will offer five additional meeting rooms including a 13-person boardroom, two gallery spaces, three event rooms, and a conference hall that can accommodate up to 210 individuals.

RETAIL

  • The Great | SoHo, Manhattan | December 2023
    • The Los Angeles based contemporary fashion and lifestyle brand, The Great, opened its first NYC store in December, offering women's, men's, and children's apparel and gifts.
    • The iconic luxury brand Chanel opened a new flagship store on Fifth Avenue, as the company's fourth watch and jewelry-only flagship worldwide. The new boutique is home to exclusive creations including a high-end jewelry collection, Eternal N °5 that features a transformable diamond necklace and earrings only available in NYC.
  • H&M | SoHo, Manhattan | February 2024
    • H&M unveiled a new store concept in SoHo offering the first-ever shop-in-shop for pre-loved H&M pieces in North America, smart mirrors in fitting rooms to identify customers' chosen products, personalized styling recommendations, mobile checkout options, and more.
    • Brooklyn-based brand KidSuper opened the doors to its new headquarters. The eclectic space, aptly named KidSuper World, is a dream house for creatives and home for the brand's first flagship store including an art gallery, design and screen-printing studios, a photo studio and a recording studio.
    • Brooklyn Made opened its newest location at City Point selling goods from across the borough that represent the rich diversity of Brooklyn.
  • Cubitts | Soho, Manhattan | April 2024
    • UK based eyewear brand Cubitts recently opened their first brick and mortar location in the US in Soho. The brand, launched in 2013, has a growing customer base in the US with their stylish spectacles and sunglasses sold in Saks Fifth Avenue. To celebrate the opening, Cubitts is said to be launching a new collection inspired by iconic locations in NYC, including Radio City Music Hall and Studio 54.
    • This new Black and woman-owned bookstore will offer over 4,000 titles alongside coffee by day and wine and beer by night, created by author Maura Cheeks.
    • Swedish footwear brand, Axel Arigato will open its first US store in NYC this summer. The popular footwear company will take over the corner of 273 Lafayette Street, offering a selection of their most popular footwear styles as well as a selection of men's and women's ready-to-wear and an exclusive NYC capsule collection
    • Luxury clothing brand Saint Laurent is expanding its presence in NYC with the announcement of a flagship store at 70-74 Gansevoort Street. This new location, expected to open in 2024, will join Saint Laurent's existing stores in Soho and Midtown Manhattan.
